Why It Matters

Why most check-ups miss the point.

A standard physical is built for the average patient and the limits of a fifteen-minute appointment. Genuine prevention looks earlier, deeper, and wider — combining detailed bloodwork, full-body imaging, cardiac and metabolic screening, and the newest cancer-detection technology into one coordinated assessment. The goal is not simply to confirm you are well today, but to understand your risks years before they become symptoms.

01

A physician who has time.

Unhurried, physician-led appointments. Your results are explained in person, in plain language, with a plan you can actually act on.

02

Tests that match the question.

Rather than a fixed panel, testing is selected around your history, age, and concerns — from routine bloodwork to advanced multi-cancer and genetic screening.

03

Results you can use.

Every finding is translated into a personalized preventive plan — nutrition, exercise, monitoring, and follow-up — with ongoing physician support throughout the year.

Scope of Testing

A complete assessment, organized the way your body actually works.

Blood & urine

Anemia and iron studies, fasting glucose and HbA1c, kidney and liver function, electrolytes, inflammation markers (CRP), detailed lipid profiling, urinalysis, and discreet STD screening.

Cardiac screening

ECG, echocardiogram, blood-pressure monitoring, stress testing when indicated, and carotid and peripheral vascular flow studies.

Cancer screening

Colon, breast, prostate, lung, skin, and gynecological screening using imaging, mammography, FIT-based testing, and advanced multi-cancer blood testing with Cancerguard™.

Hormone & metabolic

Thyroid (TSH, FT3, FT4), testosterone, estrogen and progesterone, cortisol, insulin, and vitamin and nutrient status (D, B12, folate, iron).

Imaging

Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound, chest X-ray, thyroid and carotid ultrasound, and musculoskeletal imaging as appropriate.

Body composition & nutrition

Body-fat analysis, muscle-to-fat ratio, metabolic risk assessment, and an annual consultation with a registered dietitian.

Hearing

A full audiogram, tympanograms, and tinnitus and balance screening.

Bone health

DEXA bone-density scan for osteopenia and osteoporosis — increasingly important after 40 and post-menopause.

Imaging

Diagnostic imaging & preventive screening

Included with membership, a comprehensive imaging series builds a full picture of your internal health — from your heart and major organs to your bones and blood vessels.

  • Chest X-ray — evaluation of the lungs and heart
  • Abdominal ultrasound — liver, kidneys, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas and abdominal aorta
  • Pelvic ultrasound — evaluation of the bladder or prostate, as appropriate
  • Gynecological ultrasound — uterus, ovaries and other pelvic organs
  • Thyroid ultrasound — thyroid gland and nodules
  • Mammography — breast cancer screening
  • Bone density (DEXA) — osteoporosis and fracture-risk assessment
  • Carotid Doppler ultrasound — screening for carotid artery disease
  • Upper & lower limb Dopplers — screening for peripheral vascular disease
  • Prostate assessment — imaging and screening when medically appropriate

Advanced Cancer Screening

Cancerguard™ — A New Era in Cancer Screening.

Cancer remains the leading cause of death in Canada, yet more than 60% of cancers have no recommended screening program.¹,²,³ As an add-on to your check-up, Cancerguard™ is an advanced blood test that looks for signals associated with more than 50 cancer types and subtypes¹,⁴ — including several of the deadliest⁵,¹, which often produce no symptoms until late. It is designed to complement, not replace, guideline-recommended screening.

50+

Cancer types & subtypes

1

Simple blood draw

1 · Simple blood draw

A single, routine blood sample is taken during your visit — no fasting or special preparation required.

2 · Laboratory analysis

The sample is analyzed for DNA and protein signals associated with more than 50 cancer types and subtypes, in an accredited laboratory.

3 · Results & next steps

Results are typically available in about three weeks. Dr. Leung reviews them with you and, if needed, coordinates appropriate follow-up.

Who may benefit from Cancerguard™

  • Proactive individuals who want to add to their routine screening
  • People with increased risk factors — smoking, alcohol, higher body weight, or age over 50
  • Those with a family history of cancer
  • People with hereditary risks such as BRCA1/BRCA2 or Lynch syndrome
  • Cancer survivors — around 1 in 6 may develop a second, unrelated cancer

A negative result

No cancer signal was detected. This is reassuring, but does not rule out all cancer — routine guideline-recommended screening should continue.

A positive result

A cancer signal was detected. Dr. Leung will guide the next steps, which may include additional imaging or specialist referral to investigate further. A positive result is not a diagnosis on its own.

Cancerguard™ is available through Dr. Jerry Leung for $2,000. For eligible patients, follow-up private imaging after a positive result — a CT scan (valued at $1,500+) and, when clinically indicated, a PET/CT scan (valued at $2,000+) — is included at no additional cost.

Cancerguard™ is intended for adults with no current cancer diagnosis and is not a substitute for guideline-recommended cancer screening. It is not used to screen for breast or prostate cancer. Discuss suitability with your physician.

Genetic Risk

Comprehensive genetic risk assessment.

Through our partnership with EBOVIR — a Canadian biotechnology and precision-health company focused on advanced diagnostics, genomics, and personalized medicine — this comprehensive genetic risk panel analyzes inherited genetic variants associated with an increased risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic conditions, often years before symptoms develop. Results are interpreted by Dr. Leung to personalize your screening and prevention plan, and can help inform family members of inherited risks.

Available through Dr. Jerry Leung with EBOVIR for $1,300 — compared with the $2,000–$3,000 that comprehensive hereditary genetic testing typically costs at many other clinics.

  • Detect inherited risk for multiple cancers
  • Assess genetic risk for cardiovascular conditions
  • Identify predisposition to metabolic disorders
  • Personalize your screening and prevention
  • Inform family members of inherited risks
  • Physician-guided interpretation and follow-up

Exclusive advanced laboratory testing

As a member, you gain access to an extensive range of advanced laboratory testing beyond standard publicly funded testing. Through our network of leading accredited laboratories, we can arrange many specialized and non-routine tests — including those not typically covered by OHIP — when clinically appropriate. Private laboratory testing is performed exclusively in-house for members, with physician oversight, professional interpretation, and personalized follow-up.
